The 44-40 Winchester calibre

The 44-40 Winchester Center Fire calibre was designed for the Winchester Model 1873 rifle. It replaced the 44 Henry rimfire cartridge. Despite its age, it is still in use today in various gun models. Its main purpose nowadays is recreational, although some hunters use it for short-range shots on driven hunts. Winchester offers a semi-armoured jacketed Power point bullet that ensures high stopping power against medium-sized game such as roe deer and boar at distances to 60 metres. Winchester’s 44-40 Power Point lead-tip bullets deliver ideal kinetic energy transfer on impact, mushrooming quickly and uniformly for guaranteed effectiveness. The Winchester 44-40 cartridge can be used in suitably chambered handguns and rifles.
