The 270 Winchester calibre

The 270 Winchester calibre was brought out in 1925 for hunting in mountain terrain and shooting large mammals such as boar, stag, even mouflon. It is extremely popular in its homeland, the USA, and in Europe as a rival to other medium-power calibres like the 7.64 mm Brenneke. Despite its name, the 270 Winchester fires a .277 inch (7.06 mm) bullet. The most common manufactured bullet weights are usually between 8.42 grams (130 grains) and 9.72 grams (150 grains). In Europe, the 270 Winchester is used on mammals such as deer, stags, boar, chamois and mouflon, all of which have a reputation for being hard to knock down. Winchester has developed seven loads for this calibre, which is considered highly accurate up to 300 metres. The extensive range of loads offers 6 technologically advanced projectiles that are recognised for their outstanding ballistic qualities. If you’re looking for welded core bullets, reinforced jacket, lead-free or traditional, the 270 Winchester has all the bases covered.
