The 300 Winchester Magnum calibre

The 300 Winchester Magnum calibre, also known as the 300 WM or 300 Win Mag, was invented and launched by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1963. It is a powerful, long-range cartridge carrying a .308 inch (7.85 mm) bullet with a mass that usually varies between 9.72 grams (150 grains) and 11.66 grams (180 grains). This excellent ammunition is intended for walked-up hunts, hunting from hides, and long-range shots; its high performances make it a popular choice for driven hunts in France, where it is also widely used. It is also a very popular cartridge for hunting large game, especially deer, in Europe and North America. The 300 Winchester Magnum is also used by the military as a sniper round. Winchester has built on its experience and success with this widely used cartridge to bring out seven loads solely for this fully optimised calibre.
